Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota in January totaled 11.37 million gallons, according to data from the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
The volume recorded in January was slightly lower than the 11.63 million gallons recorded in December 2025. In 2025, 144.34 million gallons of Unleaded 88 was sold in Minnesota, the fourth straight year annual Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota have exceeded 100 million gallons.
In January, Unleaded 88 was priced 20 cents per gallon lower than regular 87 octane fuel, according to the Commerce Department.
A study recently released by Decision Innovation Solutions shows how Unleaded 88 saved Minnesotans $79.5 million at the pump from 2013 to 2024. That figure, the study said, is expected to rise to $272 million by 2030.
Meanwhile, the Commerce Department reports 1.25 million gallons of E85 was sold in January. In December 2025, 1.32 million gallons of E85 was sold.
