Minnesota had the highest ethanol consumption ratio in the nation in 2023 at 12.84 percent, according to the latest data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Minnesota has consistenly had the highest ethanol consumption ratio in the country. Moreover, EIA’s data shows Minnesota’s ethanol consumption ratio grew in 2023 to 12.84 percent from 12.71 percent in 2022. In 2021, the state’s ethanol consumption ratio was 12.58 percent).
The state with the second highest ethanol consumption ratio in 2023 was Iowa at 11.74 percent. In total, 40 states and the District of Columbia had an ethanol consumption ratio above 10 percent in 2023.
In fact, the overall blend rate in 2023 was 10.37 percent.
