Rochester, Minnesota is well known as the home of the world-renowned Mayo Clinic. What you may not know about Rochester is how easy it is to buy ethanol blend fuels there. There are no fewer than 21 stations selling either E85, Unleaded 88 (E15), or both fuels in Rochester.
The growth of the Wisconsin-based convenience store chain Kwik Trip in the Rochester area is one reason why ethanol blends are so common. Six area Kwik Trips offer both E85 and Unleaded 88. Eight other Kwik Trips offer Unleaded 88, the gasoline blend with 15 percent ethanol that can be used in cars, trucks, and SUVs made in 2001 or later.
Another source of ethanol blend fuels is the Iowa-based Hy-Vee, which often builds fuel stations near its grocery stores. Two Hy-Vee stations offer cleaner-burning E85, as well as traditional petroleum products.
Minnoco, the partnership of independently owned stations that was the first to sell Unleaded 88 in Minnesota, has a foothold in Rochester as well. Both locations of Jeff’s Minnoco offer E85 and Unleaded 88.
But that’s not all. Two Holiday stations in Rochester sell E85 and Unleaded 88. And the newest station in town offering ethanol blends is the Casey’s at 1907 7th St. SW.
