Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota crossed the 12-million-gallon mark in October with 12.3 million gallons sold, according to the latest data from the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
The volume sold in October was similar to the volume sold in October 2024 (12.35 million gallons) and was 4 percent higher than the volume sold in September this year (11.83 million gallons).
The new report from the Minnesota Department of Commerce also revised the volumes previously reported for September and August from 11.57 million gallons and 12.22 million gallons to 11.83 million gallons and 12.56 million gallons respectively.
The 12.3 million gallons sold in October was the sixth time this year monthly Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota exceeded the 12-million-gallon mark. The other months were January (12.29 million gallons), May (12.49 million gallons), June (12.13 million gallons), July (12.67 million gallons) and August (12.56 million gallons). In 2024, monthly Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota passed the 12-million-gallon mark six times as well.
The Minnesota Department of Commerce reported the average price difference between Unleaded 88 and regular 87 octane fuel in October was $0.13 a gallon yielding a total savings of $1.59 million for Minnesotans at the pump.
On a cumulative 10-month basis, 120.76 million gallons of Unleaded 88 was sold in Minnesota this year, up 1.27 percent from the 119.24 million gallons sold over the same period in 2024.
