Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota during the month of April reached 11.8 million gallons, according to the latest data from the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
The volume sold in April was slightly higher the 11.38 million gallons recorded in March despite fewer stations reporting their sales in April (421 stations) than March (430 stations).
The increase in sales was likely due to consumers seeking relief at the pump with Unleaded 88 as the price of regular 87 octane in April jumped as a result of the conflict in Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
In comparison to the same month last year, Unleaded 88 sales in April this year was similar to the sales recorded in April 2025 (11.85 million gallons).
On a cumulative basis, 44.84 million gallons of Unleaded 88 was sold in the first four months of the year in Minnesota.
