Minnesota drivers saved $4.95 million at the pump with Unleaded 88 in the first quarter of 2026, according to the latest data from the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
In the first quarter of this year, 33 million gallons of Unleaded 88 was sold in Minnesota. According to the Minnesota Department of Commerce, the average price of regular 87 octane fuel during the quarter was $2.88 a gallon while the average price of Unleaded 88 was $2.73 a gallon.
This translated to an average savings of $0.15 a gallon in the first quarter and yielded a total savings of $4.95 million at the pump for Minnesotans during the first three months of 2026.
For the month of March itself, the average price difference between regular 87 octane fuel and Unleaded 88 was $0.11 a gallon.
With 11.36 million gallons of Unleaded 88 sold in March, this resulted in $1.24 million in savings at the pump for Minnesota drivers.
