In the first two months of 2026, Unleaded 88 was priced at an average of 19 cents per gallon less than regular 87 octane fuel, according to the latest data from the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
With 21.62 million gallons of Unleaded 88 sold in January and February this year, the savings of 19 cents per gallon translated to savings of $4.1 million at the pump for Minnesotans.
According to the Minnesota Department of Commerce, the average price of Unleaded 88 in January was 20 cents per gallon less than regular 87. In February, the department reported, Unleaded 88 saved drivers an average of 17 cents a gallon.
In 2025, 144.48 million gallons of Unleaded 88 was sold in Minnesota, the fifth straight year Unleaded 88 sales in the state reached a new record.
