In December 2025, Unleaded 88 was priced, on average, $0.24 cents less per gallon than regular 87 gasoline in Minnesota, according to data from the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
With 11.63 million gallons sold that month, Unleaded 88’s price discount translated to $2.79 million in savings for Minnesotans at the pump in December last year.
Unleaded 88’s price differential of $0.24 per gallon was the highest recorded in 2025. The second highest was $0.16 in November.
Interestingly, in 2024, the highest price differential between Unleaded 88 and 87 gasoline recorded by the Minnesota Department of Commerce was also $0.24 cents in November of that year.
In 2025, Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota continued to break records. For the fifth consecutive year, total Unleaded 88 sales (144.34 million gallons) exceeded the previous year.
It was also the fourth straight year annual sales exceeded 100 million gallons while the average monthly volume in 2025 topped 12 million gallons for the first time.
