Following record volumes in 2024, Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota continued on an upward trajectory in January this year.
The Minnesota Department of Commerce’s latest data shows 12 million gallons of Unleaded 88 was sold in January, slightly higher than the 11.98 million gallons recorded in December last year.
The Department notes that Unleaded 88 had an average price discount of 15 cents per gallon to regular 87 octane fuel in January.
The volume sold in January marks the first time Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota have reached 12 million gallons in the month of January and is the highest on record for that month. The previous high was 10.94 million gallons in January 2024. In January 2023, the volume sold was 9.66 million gallons.
Additionally, the volume sold in January this year is just the sixth time Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota have breached the 12-million-gallon mark. The previous five times were in the months of May, June, July, August and October of last year.
In 2024, Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota reached a new milestone with 142.75 million gallons sold, an increase of 11.63 percent from the previous record of 127.87 million gallons in 2023.
