For the first time ever, annual sales totaled 142. 75 million gallons while the number of stations offering Unleaded 88 in the state surpassed 500 stations in December. 1. Last year’s total sales of 142.75 million gallons was the third straight year Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota exceeded the 100-million-gallons mark. The first time was in 2022 with 105.5 million gallons sold followed by 127.87 million gallons sold in 2023.
2. Unleaded 88 sales in 2024 was the fourth straight year Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota broke new records. Following a slowdown in sales due to the pandemic in 2020, the annual volume of Unleaded 88 sold in 2021 was 87.11 million gallons, a record at the time. Since then, annual Unleaded 88 sales has steadily risen each year.
3. The highest monthly volume recorded in 2024 was 12.69 million gallons. The previous monthly record was 12.03 million gallons in August 2023.
4. Unleaded 88 sales only exceeded the 12-million-gallon mark once in 2023. In 2024, it surpassed that mark five times.
5. Monthly sales in Minnesota in October 2022 was the first time sales exceeded 10 million gallons with 10.07 million gallons sold and since May 2023, Unleaded 88 sales in Minnesota has consistently been above 10 million gallons. In fact, in 2024, the lowest monthly volume recorded was 10.77 million gallons.
